This issue of Pure Design Teen Magazine entitled, From this Day Forward speaks to the choice we have every single day, no matter what has happened in our past to make the right decisions – to love ourselves, walk in purity, and overcome depression. The contents of these pages are filled with amazing real-life stories including a powerful interview with Miss Ohio 2017, Sarah Clapper whose story is sure to encourage and provoke you! Sarah overcame issues of identity and self-worth that led her to an influential platform to inspire many others throughout the state. We hope that as you read her story and through the other testimonies and stories of women and teens just like you that you will be encouraged to overcome the difficulties you face. Each of these women are now walking in freedom because of choices they made, and continue to make each day. They have found hope and grace through an on-going relationship with God. God desires you to know truth. His Word says, “and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”. Freedom comes as we allow truth to take root not only in our spirit, but in our soul. Our emotions are a powerful part of who we are, but we cannot be dictated or ruled by them. We must be ruled by the truth of God alone. Philippians 3:13b-14 says, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” We can learn to let go of the past, leave it behind and move forward towards the things God has for us to do.
In this issue, Confidently You, we desire to inspire you to embrace who God created you to be – exactly as you are – with all your flaws and imperfections. All of us have weaknesses and things that make us feel “less than”, but God has created each one of us unique. He’s given us all a purpose and has amazing things for us to accomplish if we will believe Him and go for it. Becoming confident isn’t about being perfect, it’s about acknowledging our weaknesses as well. It’s learning to embrace the good with the bad and leaning on others in areas we are weak. As you thumb through these pages, we hope you will be encouraged by stories of young women just like you who’ve faced hard things in life. These teens and young women dealt with comparison and self-hatred, and are sharing their pain to encourage you that you are not alone. If we allow our stories to touch the lives of others, our suffering isn’t in vain. If we will share our insecurities, fears and failures, we will come into greater freedom and walk in God’s amazing grace.
In this issue, Unlock your Dreams, we share some amazing stories of women and teens who found ways to step into their dreams. Some of them had to overcome obstacles, others had to persevere and keep trying, but each found ways to make their dreams come true. We hope to inspire you to open up and ask yourself what dreams do you have for yourself? Don’t compare your gifts or talents to anyone else, but begin to explore God’s unique plan is for your life. Would you dare to make time to dream in 2018? Would you be bold enough to talk with others about the desires of your heart? Would you be brave enough to put those dreams in writing and find ways to take steps this year towards the God-given dreams of your heart? We hope so! We believe in you and know that with God all things are possible! So go ahead and dream… we dare you!
We live in a culture where it is unpopular to have different standards or beliefs from the majority. Our society preaches inclusion and tolerance for anything and everything. While we are called as Christians to love everyone, we are also to live according to the standards in the Word of God. God’s Word transcends time and culture, and is absolute truth. When our world shoves aside the desire for absolute truth, we must have the “Courage to Stand”. Sometimes standing for what God says feels like the unpopular or lonely way; we want to assure you that you are not alone. God promises to never leave us and believers around the world stand with you in similar convictions and beliefs. Our job is not to force God’s standards on others. Rather, it is to live a life of love that attracts others to what God is doing and to who He is. We stand with you and encourage you to stand up for what you believe. Do not let the opinion of others affect how you live your life. Live for an audience of ONE.
